"And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?" Mark 12:26
IN JESUS TODAY!
Why did God identify himself unto Moses this way? What was he saying when he told Moses in the bush about these three patriarchs? Could it be that immediately God wanted to tell Moses, listen Moses, I am not a rookie, not the average god, nor am I just a familiar neighbor! I am God Almighty! I am the God of Abraham, the father of faith, the God of Isaac of whom my covenant is permanently established, and the God of Jacob who saw God face to face and lived! And what did these three have in common? They all knew of God's amazing power to raise the dead, to deliver the captive, to lead the way, and to establish them and to keep them wherever they went! All three are patriarchal fathers of our faith, worshiping and serving our Lord God, even the Father of Jesus Christ our Savior! God immediately expresses this to Moses from the bush, because there should be no confusion, so that Moses' curiosity didn't lead him to fear and doubt, and so that God would have Moses' undivided attention! God was telling Moses, I am not the God of the dead, but rather the God of the living! As we read, "He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err." Mark 12:27
Listen friends, God is not some Bobble Head figurine that is attached to the dashboard of some car, or some china doll standing at the center shelf of some china cabinet. God is powerful! He is so powerful and alive that for thousands of years he has been resurrecting and restoring countless lives of those that come to him! Let God Almighty get your attention today! Allow God into your heart today!
