"Therefore shall the strength of Pharoah be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion." Isaiah 30:3
IN JESUS TODAY!
Do you trust in God? There are many who say trust in another! Here we see Isaiah warning Israel not to trust in the powers and riches of Egypt, this is because the people were being tempted to depend upon the Egyptian government for protection and provision. The strength of Pharoah with his huge army was vast and captivating, tempting many to think that in Egypt it was safe to depend on government aid, much like it is in many parts of the world today. Our government, that once was standing upon God, only to push him away, has now convinced many to depend upon it for it's means to survive. Amazing in power, prosperity, wisdom, and security, It has been a safe haven for many throughout the world, and many have desired to come here, but now there is a problem, people who come here desire freedom, a freedom that was blessed by God, and is now being manipulated by others. So the warning is the same as in the day of Isaiah, "Put your trust in God!" Do not put your trust in the Pharoah of our day! Our currency here in the beautiful United States of America reads, "In God We Trust" and Our pledge has always been, "One Nation Under God" but today there are powerful forces that have altered this conviction and convinced many that we don't need God, and that we only need to trust the government to take care of them. Friend no government can take the role of God! Our saying shall not be, "In Government We Trust!" This will lead us to shame as all governments fall short of the abilities that God possesses to care for the people.
Governments cannot save the soul, governments cannot deliver people from their sin, and governments cannot love people like Christ loves them, in giving his life for them. Jesus is the only way, and the government shall be upon his shoulder! It is Jesus that we trust in! "In God We Trust!"
