"When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, He saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do." John 6:5, 6
IN JESUS TODAY!
Yesterday we talked about Philip's testing, Jesus was proving Philip of this 1. His Faith and 2. His Confidence, now there is more still, Jesus also wanted to prove Philip of 3. His Love. To prove him of his love as it is written, "A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another. John 13: 34, 35 and "Beloved, Let us love one another; for love is of God." "He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love." 1John 4: 7, 8 So we find that this proving or testing of Philip was to prove him of his faith, his confidence, and also his love. Has God ever used a situation in your life to prove you?
It is important to remember these things, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6, and "A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another, as I have loved you." John 13:34
Our testing or proving times are always to build us up. Jesus always knows exactly what he will do! He is on our side and loves us with his life! Though he tests us to prove us of these things, this testing is for us a marking of where we are at and what we may need to improve in.
