"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?" Romans 8:35
IN JESUS TODAY!
Why does Paul mention this in the book of Romans? Because he wants to reassure us that in times of trouble God will always keep us! God instructs us about the winds of scatter, about the times to come, about their lack of power against us, and about our future victories through Christ Jesus! Nothing can separate us from the love of God, as it is written, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38, 39. No man can pluck us out of his hand, and God wants to reassure us that we are safe in him, as it is written, "And I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." John 10:28 However, the "in him" is what we must focus on! It is absolutely true that nothing can harm us when we are in him, so for this reason God wants us to gather around him, to watch and pray, to be on our guard, to separate ourselves from worldly vices, to trust in Jesus, to stay close together, and to stay close to him! Things are happening, winds that scatter are moving, times are changing in the attempt to deceive even the elect of God. We must stay close to him and be found to be diligently seeking his safety. God is a safe place, as it is written, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run into it, and is safe." Proverbs 18:10 We must be found "in him" abiding in him, these times require it, for our safety is in Jesus! We cannot afford to wander from the Shepherd, we cannot allow these winds to scatter us, we must stand firm in our faith, realizing what is happening around us, and keeping our focus on Jesus through it all. Do not leave his side without an escort, do not travel alone without him. Take heed, let the Holy Spirit be your guide, and let the word of God be your escort!
Although troubled times seek to test your faith and your resolve, you can know that you will be safe in Jesus, and as it is written, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord." Isaiah 54:17
