"Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all of the churches of the Gentiles." Romans 16:3,4
IN JESUS TODAY!
There is a sacrifice, and there is a greeting! How are we greeting those who sacrifice so much? If there was a celebrity in the vicinity would we run to greet them and get their autograph? Are not our teachers celebrities? Are not the workers for Christ? No they are not, because these would never allow it! They are never seeking adoration or praise. To some this might be considered a snubbing of those who sincerely want to show appreciation, but in reality these servant helpers are content with a common greeting. They don't consider themselves to be stars, but rather slaves, and servants of the Most High God. So what greeting shall be given to them? Just a common greeting, a giving of thanks, a simple recognition of the good that they do for others. Although many have paid the ultimate price, many have been martyrs for Christ, and many have laid down their own necks for the advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they do not seek after fame or self-glory! Only to greet them with a thank you this will suffice. When we give thanks to them, we give glory and honor and thanks to him, God our Father, as it is written, "I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; that in everything you are enriched by him," 1Corinthians 1:4,5a
We see how we are to greet these helpers, worker servants, with thanksgiving, and in doing so we are thanking God, that he has chosen them and enriched them to perform his works on our behalf. It is God's way of providing our needs to us and to the world. "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 Give thanks to them who labor for us in all things of God!
