"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10
IN JESUS TODAY!
Prior to this verse in Romans we find the "how to", how to be saved , as it is written, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart, that God hath raise him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 This verse is the step by step of how to be saved, step one, confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, telling others that you accept him, that you believe him, and that you are willing to stand in front of others and straight from your own lips, without shame, in full conviction and confidence proclaim him to be your Lord and savior. Step two, while confessing Jesus with the mouth, the heart believes every word spoken in truth, this being, of the two steps, the most important step that there is. The heart matters and it must believe this confession in truth! The "how to" steps of salvation are simple, but absolutely necessary to be saved. Now the explanation of why this is necessary follows in verse ten, why reason number one, as we read,
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness."
It is not enough that the mind thinks it, or that the mouth confesses it, but the heart matters most, and the heart must truly believe it! All actions taken by confession and proclamation are simply an evidence to the world that the heart believes Jesus! If the heart believes him, then it is truth, and easy for the mouth to confess. Some people are able to think things, and even confess things and still not have it in their heart as truth, making what is in the heart a searching ground for God and for others to try to see. This is why confession matters, only that the heart matters, and it through confession that the heart can be seen.
GOD SEARCHES THE HEART!
