"And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;" John 13:2
IN JESUS TODAY!
Of the ones that we eat with and enjoy fellowship, friendship, and love for family and friends, who would leave us blind to being betrayed, never would we think it, but here we see that betrayal was to come to Jesus not from a known enemy, but rather from a beloved friend. Has this ever happened to you? It's devastating! Some never recover from this, how can we? Well first by just knowing that this can happen, and knowing that this has happened before to others, and even unto Jesus our Lord and Savior! "Think it not strange" this takes away some of its power to hurt us through shock. Next we pray casting this upon the Lord, as it is written, "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22 We pray for the one that has hurt us understanding that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, as it is written, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Ephesians 6:12 That is why Jesus said on the cross, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Luke 23:34 He knows it is not the person who we have fellowship with and friendship with that is against us, but rather it is our spiritual enemy, the devil that is working through them, it is principalities and powers, not people!
We see here that these powers were "put into" Judas to betray Jesus, this evil was put into his heart and mind, it wasn't always there. So we must pray for those that come against us! Father help us to forgive always those that have allowed the enemy to deceive them.
