"Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain the favor of the Lord." Proverbs 8:34, 35
IN JESUS TODAY!
After working the prison systems I can recall many inmates talking about life, and life to them was a term or sentence meaning that they were sentenced to be incarcerated for life, some with consecutive life sentences. Friend, when Jesus talks about life he is talking about the good life, the free life. Being incarcerated, locked up, and in bondage is not the good life! Jesus talks about life abundant, full of peace and joy, family and friends, not chains or the bondage of locked doors. Our life sentence is a life full of blessing upon blessing as we obtain the favor of God. Now sin is what perverts this, it turns life upside down and calls it something that it was never meant to be. Life is good! A life term full of slavery, bondage, sorrow, suffering, depression, and sadness is not what Jesus wants for us, but rather what sin will give to us in exchange for calling it our master! Jesus came to set the captive free, as it is written, "The spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound." Isaiah 61:1 You see friend, "Blessed" is the man that heareth Jesus! His words of truth set us free, as we read, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32 Blessed are they that hear this truth and follow Jesus because of it, their life sentence is a sentence of freedom and abundance of peace and joy, family and friends.
This is the life that Jesus gives, we cannot think that a different life sentence is what Jesus gives, that life sentence doesn't come from him at all, but he does want to set those that are in bondage free! A good life, a free life, a life filled with truth, this is the life sentence that we receive through Jesus!
