"Many there be which say of my soul, there is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head." Psalm 3:2, 3
IN JESUS TODAY!
If God is for us then who can be against us and prevail? He is our helper that never fails. In some of the older war movies of the Roman era for example, you will find a common practice where enemy archers would fire arrows at the hero warriors, causing these hero warriors to raise their shields to cover themselves against this massive incoming assault from the enemies arrows of attack. This is exactly how it is with God, you are his hero warrior and he is your shield, and although the enemies arrows are like heat seeking missiles that desire to destroy you, Jesus rises above us to shield us and protect us from all harm, as we read, "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith, ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." Ephesians 6:16 Our shield of faith, even Jesus Christ, protects us and keeps us safe every time that we raise him above us as our defense.
Not only are the arrows of the wicked dissolved or quenched upon this shield and turned into refreshing drops of rain, but Jesus also raises us up! He is our glory and we see him at work protecting us, renewing us with hope, energizing us with purpose, and lifting us up by his love from all despair. It is good to know that God is for us, and that nothing can harm us, having him as our defense. Because of Jesus all worry is gone, as it is written, "Fret not thyself, because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb." Psalm 37:1,2
Are you under attack today? Raise Jesus up, raise up your shield above this attack and in the face of adversity watch these arrows turn into refreshing drops of rain that soothe the soul! "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper: and every tongue that rises against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn..." Isaiah 54:17a
