"Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved." Luke 13:23
IN JESUS TODAY!
Close to Jesus is where we should want to be. Close like John was, so close that we can ask him anything, so close that we can hear his heart! When we are close to Jesus we can ask anything and he will answer, as we read here, "He then lying on Jesus' breast, saith unto him, Lord who is it? Jesus answered, he it is to whom I shall give a sop when I have dipped it." John 13:25,26 See here, John was asking Jesus who it was that would betray him, Jesus knew, and he answered this to John because John was close to him, when we are close to Jesus he confides in us deep hidden mysteries of God, he doesn't have to, but he wants to share these things with us just as a friend would! Also see here, that whenever we are close to Jesus others around us will see our relationship with the Father and will see his favor over us, and will begin to ask us to ask God about these hidden mysteries, they could find them out also, but because they are not close to Jesus they feel that they will not be told what they ask, so they come to those that have a better relationship to ask for them what they desire to know, as we read here, "Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him that he should ask who it should be of whom he spake." John 13:24 Simon Peter being a disciple was somewhat close to Jesus, walking with him daily, talking to him always, yet Simon Peter was not as close to Jesus as John was, there is a difference between resting against the heart of Jesus and being a man after God's own heart, and simply walking and talking to Jesus throughout the day or week, etc.
When we rest our head against Jesus' heart our mind takes in all that He is, and we desire to please him forevermore! One might think to ask Jesus, yet another might say, No! you ask him, you're closer! Be close to Jesus today!
