POSTURING FOR PRAYER!
"And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth and ashes." Daniel 9:3
IN JESUS TODAY!
Has it ever happened to you when someone that you were talking to acted like they heard you, but was looking elsewhere the whole time that you talked to them, or has anyone ever talked to you, but could scarcely stay focused on the topic at hand because their mind was wandering elsewhere? This is what happens sometimes when we worship and pray, because we haven't taken the correct posture before we start and while we are involved. Here we see that Daniel (as we should also) was beginning to pray for the people and when he began he made sure to have the correct posture allowing him to be completely focused while he prayed. He set his face toward God with a purpose, not allowing the distractions of life to influence or come between or confuse his focus between him and God! Now setting his face toward God was the first step to having the correct posture before God, not watching T.V., or looking around the room, not listening to music, or flipping through channels, and not waiting for the phone to ring, but always turning it off before our worship and prayer! We ought to directly look towards God from whence comes our help. Next when seeking God Daniel adjusted his attitude by denying his flesh and opting to walk in the spirit and pray for others concerns before his own, and finally, with sackcloth and ashes he humbled himself, lowering his stature and setting himself to mourn for the people and their afflictions.
Having the correct posture and attitude is absolutely vital for effectual and fervent prayer and worship. Jesus is always faithful to hear us when we give our whole heart and attention to him! Let Us Take The Correct Posture Today!
