"Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and come and offer thy gift." Mathew 5:23, 24
IN JESUS TODAY!
When we worship God, we must worship him in spirit and in truth. There has to be a clear passage so that our worship will reach to the heavens without obstruction, our past offences, errors, and issues with our brothers and sisters can restrict our prayers and worship from freely reaching to God. God desires that we reconcile, to be reconciled, united, and walking in love and forgiveness with each other. Work this out before you come to him he says. As a manager or a parent it's often a requirement that our children or team work things out among themselves before they ask of us anything.
The same applies to the family of God. Are there any issues that we need to address before going to God in prayer or worship? We will find that once these issues have been addressed and are cleared, or at least an attempt has been made, we will experience a new freedom. Then the passage to God has been opened, and maybe a relationship that has been broken will be restored! The freedom that reconciliation and forgiveness gives to us is so refreshing and pleasing to God.
"And then come and offer thy gift." God is much more likely to receive and approve our gift when we have sought to be right before him. Be reconciled today and forgive those that come to you seeking forgiveness. Put aside these restrictions and walk in love.
