"Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in like manner did their fathers unto the prophets." Luke 6:23
IN JESUS TODAY!
At first look, standing alone, this passage might make us assume that someone was soon to win a door prize, the lottery, or first place in a sporting event or activity. Why else should they leap for joy? But this is not what Jesus is talking about, he encourages us to leap for joy and rejoice at the exact times in which it seems to be impossible, times of persecution and pain. When you’re having a bad day how easy is it to count it all joy?
HOW ABOUT YOU?
I am not that spiritual yet, that I can so quickly flip the coin and laugh when I feel like crying! So what can we do? The answer comes by asking another question,
Where will we run when we are in pain?
I hope that we all have answered, we will run to Jesus when we hurt. Only he can help us to turn our minds and hearts around so quickly and focus on what matters, the truth, the truth that we have an enemy that desires to sift us, an enemy that steals our joy at every turn. When we turn to Jesus he helps us to cast down every imagination and to surrender every hurt and pain, laying them all down at his feet in exchange for the joy that is set before us in heaven, as it is written,
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1Peter 5:7
Guard your heart, do not let the enemy steal your joy by oppression, affliction, or persecution. Laugh in his face, despite how it hurts, knowing that it is the intention of our enemy to cause us to focus on him and our hurt, rather than to focus on Jesus and the reward that awaits us in heaven.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus and look unto heaven!
THERE WILL BE NO MORE SORROW, NO MORE PAIN!
