"And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35
IN JESUS TODAY!
On the surface this scripture appears to be talking about physical provisions for the body, such as food and water, both of which we all need for survival, but when we dig deeper into the meaning of what Jesus is saying here, we find that he was talking more on the satisfaction of the soul. We know that Jesus, our God, will always provide food for the righteous, as we read, I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." Psalm 37:25 So we see that God takes care of his own, providing for them food and drink for the body, but herein we find an even deeper meaning, here Jesus is talking about the soul of men and women, and how he satisfies the soul! It is the goodness of Jesus that satisfies our soul, because life is more than bread and water alone, as it is written, "But he answered and said, It is written, Men shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Mathew 4:4 The words of Jesus are the bread that satisfies our soul, and we cannot live for eternity without them.
There are many people walking around the earth, walking through life today, that are very full, yet still so many of them are unsatisfied. They have eaten their fill of bread, yet their soul is hungry and searching! God wants to satisfy our soul, search no more, and be filled with Jesus! He is the bread of life! Only the goodness of Jesus can satisfy the soul, as we read, "And I will satisfy the soul of the priest with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord." Jeremiah 31:14 Let us be satisfied and content, having Jesus to fill our soul!
