"And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum, and the three taverns: whom when Peter saw, he thanked God, and took courage." Acts 28:15
IN JESUS TODAY!
Now Paul and the gang had just survived a shipwreck and was now in a foreign territory on the Island of Malta with said barbarous people, who by the way were very kind to them as we read, And the barbarous people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us everyone, because of the present rain, and because of the cold." Acts 28:2 Note here how that even barbarous strangers had compassion on Paul and his crew after they saw all that they had been through, how great it is when we are received with compassion and kindness when we have been or are going through a tough time! These barbarous unbelievers continued with this kindness towards Paul, and when he put his hand towards their campfire to place sticks on it a snake grabbed onto his hand, but Paul simply shook it off and survived that bite also, at which time these same barbarous unbelievers were in awe that he did not die and began to worship him as a god. In addition to being Shipwrecked Paul now has survived a deadly Snake bite! Now when it was time for him to travel again this continued favor of God enabled Paul and his crew to be confident in all that they did that God was with them! As we read further we see that they continued from Malta traveling to Alexandria, Syracuse, Rhegium, and Puteoli (Acts 28:13) with confidence that God was with them. Each time they set to travel they took courage.
In our life events happen that God gets us through each time, testimonies if you will of God's goodness that we can look back on and take courage each time that we are called by God to serve. God always will be there and always will see us through the difficult times ahead! Give him thanks and take courage! Thank God for his ever present help in our times of need!
