"Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep Not. Luke 7:12, 13
IN JESUS TODAY!
Walking into a city, Jesus looked, and before him stood a lone woman, although there were many others standing there, and a funeral procession was the activity that many would notice, Jesus saw this woman. He could see that flashing through her mind and heart was all of the past, the joys of togetherness, the security that she once felt by having her family with her, and the hopes for her future with her family, all gone! It was all over and she stood there and wept. Have you ever felt like you were at the end of hope, that life was over, and possibly there was no use of looking for tomorrow? This is where this woman was, no husband, no son, and no future in her heart. She was all alone! Loneliness is scary! Hopelessness hurts! When joy is replaced with perpetual sadness, the heart dies, and there seems to be no reason to live! This is what Jesus saw, he saw this woman feeling like there was no reason to live, and he had compassion on her. The amazing power of compassion compels us to act! What can we do to help? How can we make things better? These are the questions that we should ask. Jesus was committed to helping her, because he had compassion on her, and he told her, weep not! Jesus was soon to take action, and his action of compassion would change her outlook on life forever and bring joy back into her life once again. Jesus went to her dead son, and took action, "And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still, And he said, Young Man, I say unto thee, Arise!" Luke 7:14
This one act of compassion changed this woman's life forever, joy was restored, hope was restored, and life was restored! It made believers out of many that were once uncertain about the power of love and compassion, and it brought many that were once spiritually dead, looking unto other gods for help, it brought them unto the giver of life and hope, and gave them life and hope for their future , and their family's future, and their friend's futures also! Your one act of compassion can change someone's life forever!
