WE GO FORTH AS SHEEP!
“Behold I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” Mathew 10:16
IN JESUS TODAY:
“The fruits of the Spirit of God are these: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22, 23
Now these are what we are equipped with by God, and this is what we are encouraged to take out into this world, where we will find that few others are like minded, in fact many others display a different type of fruit, such as we read,
“The fruits of the flesh which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like of which I forewarn you that they who practice such thingsshall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5: 19-21
So we can easily understand why there will be differences of opinions, lifestyles, and mindsets. One being led by the Spirit of God, while others are led by their flesh.
Still God sends us forth, but he doesn’t send us forth ignorant of what we should expect! Here God warns us to be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. This is how we will make it through these who lay traps for us, who stand waiting for all who oppose their way of living with words of opposition, attempting to belittle who we are and who God is!
OF NO EFFECT…
Of no effect is what their goal is, to shut us down, to steal our joy, and to destroy any and all that might be different from them so that they can have their lifestyle free of any conviction or condemnation from God, and even their own conscience. Therefore we must conduct ourselves wisely.
However some will take a hardline stance of bashing them immediately with God’s words of “Fire & Brimstone”, while others will opt to share the love of God, with joy, and peace to win them over to Gods side. Whatever way we do, we must remember we go forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, we must do this in love, not desiring that any should perish, because this is the will of God as we read,
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2Peter 3:9
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
We must always remember that we were them before Jesus’ grace came to us, and we must remember that God is judge, and that he is in control while we go forth to share his love!
