DOING THE WILL OF GOD!
“After this manner therefor pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen. Mathew 6:9-15
HOPE FOR TODAY:
God only has one Will, it has two parts, Secret and Revealed. So what is God’s Will? There are some parts of God’s Will that is kept from us, that is in secret, and only God knows what it is, and why he chooses not to tell us, and the rest of God’s Will is what is revealed to us. God’s Will is not negotiable, we can’t plead for him to change it, and we can’t expect that he will include what we think that it should be, because we are his children. God is stable, never changing, always true to all that he says! As we read,
“God is not man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoke, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19
So whatever God’s will is, be it secret or revealed to us, he will do all that he says! God’s will is what God allows, and we need to learn to always be mindful to do things according what he will allow, always stating, “God Willing” as our constraint and reminder.
For God’s Secret Will we certainly have to accept that there are some things that God might choose to show us, and some things that He chooses that we do not know, and we have to trust him that he is always working it to our good, as we read,
“And we know that all things work for good to them that love God, to then who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
With God’s Revealed Will it is often better, because we have explanation for why things happen the way they do, “because God said so!” as opposed to God’s Secret Will that we just don’t have the answer to, we can’t even say, “because God said so!” only “I just don’t know” will suffice. Take heart though, the majority of God’s Will has been revealed to us, and written in God’s Holy Bible, His love letter to us, that instructs us in so many things. This is God’s Revealed Will. God has chosen to reveal to us so many things, but too often people choose not to seek out what He has said about life. He put it there for us to use, and now it is up to us to read it, and do it! As James the brother of Jesus has said,
“But be ye doers of the word, not just hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22
Friend, if you believe in God, and have received Jesus into your heart, it is us all to hear what he tells us, and do it! It is for our good that we are called unto Jesus and are given God’s Revealed Will.
