Better is an open rebuke than love that is hidden. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; But the kisses of an enemy are profuse.” Proverbs 27:5, 6
HOPE FOR TODAY!
Most people in life will have to learn to like vegetables that are offered to them at the kitchen table, but will easily accept the sweet deserts provided to snack on. What is it about this that we can learn from? What it is about this is that we often do not accept so easily what is good for us. Vegetables are God’s gift to us that have great nutritional value, while sweets are filled with so much sugar that they rot our teeth or cause other problems to our health! Sweets are a deceitful meat as we read,
“Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful meat.” Proverbs 23:3
The deceitful words of an enemy are the same, we might like what they are saying, but they tell us lies in the effort to deceive us, while the words of a true friend tell us about our life, or our choices, having love for us within. A true friend loves us and may not always tell us things that we will like to hear, but will always tell us the truth and will always desire our good. They want what is best for us! The smooth words of an enemy and the kind kisses that they share have in them the desire to see us fail. We must learn that true friends don’t tell lies and we must learn to accept their words even when we don’t like what they are saying! Like vegetables their words have great nutritional value to our spiritual health and are many times, without the sweet taste of the sugar coated words that an enemy offers.
Consider all that we like to be told and compare it with all that is actually good for us to hear, and remember true friends don’t lie!
THE WORDS OF A TRUE FRIEND ARE STRENGTH TO OUR LIFE!
