A STEELY RESOLVE!
“And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?” Nehemiah 6:3
AS MEN OF HONOR:
There are times in life where we must all agree to say, “I’m not quitting!” The devil is always working, and he never quits, Our God is always working, and He never quits, and so it is upon us all to stand fast with a steely resolve to do the same, to put skin in the game as they say, and never quit! This is an essential message in a Christian’s life! Nehemiah was determined to do the same. The completion of the wall of Jerusalem was all that was on his mind, despite the fact that many enemies had risen up against him trying to distract him from his goal, yet Nehemiah set his forehead like flint to the great work of God, and would not quit! He was commissioned by the burden of the great work of God, a great work, the work of our Lord, and he was given the vision to see it through!
Do you have a vision for the work of God in your life, your family, your church, or your community? Nehemiah viewed the wall of Jerusalem and saw it torn down. It was this visit to his hometown, seeing the people in vision, and recalling the former places, right then his heart was burdened, as we read,
“And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were consumed with fire.” Nehemiah 2:13
Rise! Take up thy bed and walk! We have been called to restore the former desolations in the likeness of our Father Jesus Christ. Viewing the great need, seeing the current distress, let us rebuild the walls of Jerusalem that are torn down before us!
Are we dedicated to God’s work? If so we will resolve to say as Nehemiah stated,
“I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?”
IT IS A GREAT PRIVILEGE TO SERVE…
It is a great privilege to serve our God, and to be a part of the great work of our Lord! Only what is done for Christ will last, all else will pass. So we are called to do all as unto the Lord, as we read,
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance; for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23, 24
There is no unemployment in God’s work! It is worth it when you are doing the work of God, what remains is the reward to come, the blessings of happiness, and the peace of a content heart. So let us not be weary in well doing as we have been told,
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9
Desire, dedication, and determination will help us through, despite our enemies, even religious enemies, such as Sanballat, Geshem, and Tobiah were to Nehemieh.
And as we set our minds on Jesus, and continue this great work of God we are guaranteed to see its completion!
