Unstable as water, thou shall not excel; because thou wentest up to thy Father’s bed; then defilest thou it: he went up to my couch.” Genesis 49:4
AS MEN OF HONOR:
Stability is highly respected. Our character must be a stable one, as Jesus is always the same yesterday, today, and forever! Never changing, never wavering, and always steadfast. Everyone admires a man that makes his decision and stands firm. Never wavering! Here is what James tells us,
“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:8
Let us be unchangeable, let us not be unstable as water is, and let us be steadfastly set in our minds that we could never be moved! Our hope is in Jesus, our strength in his joy, and our success is in stability and faithfulness! Job gives the proper example of this, as we read,
“Thou he slay me, yet will I trust him: but I will maintain my own ways before him!” Job 13:15
Where is failure? Where is confusion, and a turning back in this? There is none, we have set our foreheads to be like flint, solid as a rock, and never bending to conform to the winds of change. What is it about flint or flint rock anyways, why is it so quoted? Here are some reasons:
THE HARDNESS OF FLINT…
Our relationship with flint goes all the way back to the Stone Age where we used it for tools, and for cutting instruments. It was used to build secure buildings, and even to make weapons for hunting, and war. First the Indians used flint to make Arrow Heads for their Arrows, and then flint was used to modernize weapons, as guns came into existence. Flint is the rock that gives a spark after it is sharply struck to ignite gunpowder, and other materials.
Do you want to spark a revolution? From your mind let your thoughts strike out into the world, this is setting our foreheads like flint, as we read,
“As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.” Ezekiel 3:9
What kind of faith? An adamant faith! Impervious to pleas, persuasion, requests, and reasoning, one that is ever refusing to change our mind! This is stability, this is Christ-Like faith!
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Ephesians 6:16
WE SHALL BE STABLE IN ALL THAT WE DO!
