CHAPTER TWELVE - ENTANGLEMENTS & PURITY...
We are not alone in these afflictions and we will never win the battle alone, as we read,
“Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” 2Timothy 2:3
Together we suffer, together we are in battle, and together we will rejoice in victory. From Jesus we receive and from each other we receive strength to carry on as we read,
“Thou therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2Timothy 2:1
We know already that iron sharpens iron as we read,
“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17
So we need each other and without each other our skills in the Lord become dull, leaving us unprepared for battle, and not having the ability to cut through the lies of darkness that come at us.
Our motto ought to be;
“TOGETHER WE CAN!”
So no soldier should stand alone in battle, we should have each other’s back, and carry one another’s burdens. Listen to what scripture tells us,
“No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.” 2Timothy 2:4
How important is it that our life is free of obstacles, clutter, and drama? All too often we are held back in life, we desire to excel, but can’t seem to get beyond our troubles, beyond what used to be in the past, so that we can now focus on today and on what lies ahead in the future! We need to be set free from this, and what or who is it that will set us free? Jesus and His infallible truth will set us free, as we read,
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31, 32
The cares of this world seek to choke His word of truth in our life, if it is possible our enemy would love to keep God’s truth away from us, knowing that without God’s truth we will Not be able to realize our enemy’s plotting’s and planning’s of destruction that has been laid as a trap for us to fall into. The cares of the world are often many and these many or even some few are powerful to the pulling away of our devotion and time from the one that can set us free and enable us to overcome. Let’s see exactly what the word says,
“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” Mark 4:19
Let’s look at this verse, who would think that God’s word could become unfruitful?
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
That God’s word, being so powerful could ever be choked and become unfruitful? Who would think this? This is a warning to us, heed this warning because it is not God’s word that fails us, it is we who fail God’s word, because of these entanglements by the cares of this world! We become unfruitful, not because God’s word doesn’t work, but because we have allowed God’s word to be choked and unable to work in our lives. We set God’s word aside and assign a higher priority to the cares of this world instead of saying,
“I refuse to allow these cares, these problems, and these distractions to keep me from following all that God has said!”
