"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23,24
AT HIS TABLE!
God searches the heart, as we read here, I the Lord search the heart, try the reigns, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:10 David wanted God to search him and was asking God to lead him. It is better that we would search ourselves and come to Him if there is anything within us that is not Holy, but still we can ask God to search our hearts and help us. God knows what's within us and what we need. The searching of the heart must always start with our heart though. Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord. Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. Lamentations 3:40,41 Too often we start this searching by searching others first, however, It is said, judge not lest ye be judged. Now this searching of the heart applies to everyone in every situation, when selecting a king for Israel God instructed Samuel, "But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature: because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." Here again, God is looking at the heart. Starting with ourselves, we are to search the heart also, not to look upon the outward appearance, but instead look at the heart. Don't spend hours in the mirror preparing our outward appearance for others and don't jump in amazement at the stature and the outward appearance of those that you see. God knows what you have need of and starting with yourself he desires that you make your selections based upon the examination of the heart.
