But since we have received, here is what Paul says that we are to do: First we are to be like minded, like minded with Jesus, having the same mind, and the same love, and the same desire to alleviate the misery of others, consoling their hearts, comforting their troubled minds, and offering the same compassion unto them as we have received from Jesus. Next, we are not to do these things to promote ourselves that we may say, "look at me and all that I have done", but rather in lowliness of mind and heart considering others before ourselves. And finally, we are to put on the mind of Christ and be in agreement with him and each other, to become a united force of love and mercy in the world.
Why does Paul say to us, "If there be any therefore..."? Because we are a select group of people that have been chosen by God to receive these things, and because we have received them freely, we are chosen to share the same compassion, consolation, mercy, and fellowship with those that have not received this yet, but are in need of the love of Christ. We are the ones that Paul is talking to and the ones that Jesus expects to do this work. "If there be therefore any..." And we are the ones to follow these instructions. Don't wait for others to do what you are called to do! Since we are partakers of this truth and wearers of this belt of God’s truth we have been called to tell others and to show them how to live in truth.
Now we are soldiers for Christ, Soul Winners for His Kingdom, so now we must go forth boldly and in confidence knowing that we are called with a purpose!
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
