(REVIVAL, RENEWAL, AND RESTORATION)
We need Jesus because we know the truth about us! And the truth about us is…
“I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” Romans 7: 21-23
God understands our struggles, of course Jesus has already won the ultimate victory for us, but this does not end our struggle! That is why Jesus tells us to take up our cross and follow after him, as we read,
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. Mathew 16:24
So let us dispel these false claims of perfection that lead us into condemnation after we fall short! They are not on the side of truth! The truth is we all fall short, we all struggle, we all need Jesus, we all have a cross to bear, and we all need each other! Now let us take a rest without condemnation, understanding the war is not over and we shall fight again. Just as we read of Jesus at His time of temptation,
“Then saith Jesus unto him, get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.” Mathew 4: 10, 11
See here Jesus doing battle with the devil and after this time of temptation the devil left him, now that was not that he left him forever as we know that the devil comes again to arrest him in the Garden of Gethsemane, but for now the devil leaves him and what do we find? Jesus doesn’t chase after him,
He doesn’t quickly get back to work to build a wall or fortress so that the devil can’t tempt him again, he doesn’t stop working towards the future, but instead we see that there is a time of rest, relaxation, and renewal, as the angels came and ministered to him.
We must take times of refreshing allowing our soul to be ministered to.
