“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” Romans 10:14, 15
So, really does it sound like a command yet?
“Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye ought also to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” John 13:13-15
Has Jesus won your soul? Then you should seek to win the souls of others! So yes it is a command, we are commanded to do for others what Jesus has done for us!
By this we shall know that we are truly Christian as we read,
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me, ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples.” John 15:4-8
We see here that Jesus commands us to bear fruit telling us to do unto others as he has done unto us and he also tells us how to bear fruit by telling us to abide in him and we will bear much fruit! He gives us instructions along with his command. Complete instructions on how to bear fruit and win souls. So we are without excuse, save that our heart is not rightly conditioned! If we love others we will reach out to them and seek to win them to Jesus!
