STAY! -- WE ARE PRONE TO STRAY!"
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” Jude 1:20, 21
AT HIS TABLE:
We all know that God will never leave us nor forsake us as we read,
“And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
And we are forever grateful to God for this, but, and yes there is a “but”… But we are not always so reliable that we ourselves will always have our mind and heart stayed on Jesus, now does that remove us from the love of God? Of course not, God always loves us, but, and again here is that “but”! But we are not so dependable that we ourselves can say that our heart and our mind is always focused on Him, our loving God. So here we are reminded of our responsibility to keep ourselves in the love of God. Why do we need to be reminded of this? Because, as we read,
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:6
The fact is we are all prone to wandering or drifting away! This is why we need to be reminded of our responsibility to keep ourselves in the love of God. We need to be reminded because we stray!
WE NEED TO...
Press on towards the mark of His high calling and imagine what a day that will be! Then we shall sing and rejoice! Yes rejoice while we are here on earth, but rejoice because your name is written in the lambs book of life, and in heaven, and your reservation awaits you! As it is written,
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!” Philippians 3:14
Apart from God we can do nothing, we need Jesus to strengthen us, and we need each other so that we are not relying only own our own strength, as we read,
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
